Passing Through
BMGART, Adelaide, Australia
4 - 26 October 2024
These works contain thoughts of process and ageing and a sense that I am travelling again, this time through stages of life.
There is a very real sense that I am experiencing pre-concepts of growing old. The Three Ages is a reflection on three stages of life – relating these to the three planes of landscape foreground middle ground and background.
Although age brings clarity and wisdom there is also ambiguity to the purpose of life and there is a greyness of palette suggesting this uncertainty after climbing down from the elevated platform of experience, Beyond What We Know.
Recently I have lost close loved ones and there is reference to this in the work. Thoughts of spirits around or near me are suggested in the work Déjà vu and River Spirits.
With acceptance there comes peace and a realisation that we are just Passing Through.
